Digital Kintsugi: a 5-step approach to digital development

Senior leader briefings

  • Further education - this briefing is based on a survey of 14,300 UK further education students, studying at 36 colleges across the UK. Collected in early 2018, these student responses provide unique insights into how students use digital technologies to enhance their studies. The briefing also includes findings from a parallel but smaller study of 380 teaching staff at four colleges taking part in the student survey.
  • Higher education - this briefing is based on a survey of 23,500 UK higher education students, studying at 43 universities across the UK. Collected in early 2018, these student responses provide unique insights into how students are using digital technologies to enhance their studies. The briefing also includes findings from a parallel but smaller study of 1,500 teaching staff.

The benchmarking toolkits have been developed with the support of learners, students and staff in colleges and universities. They help to assess how colleges and universities are doing on the key issues that are important to the online learning experience.

Jisc NUS roadmap for supporting students to improve their digital experience at university and college

This roadmap draws on the findings from our 2018 student digital experience insights survey for UK further and higher education. The roadmap helps student representatives to discuss and review specific aspects of the student experience in your organisation. It focuses on the digital environment for learning and how digital tools and resources are used to support learning in courses of study. It can be used to start conversations and contribute to improvements at your university or college. It updates our previous Jisc/NUS student experience benchmarking tool.
